The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine focuses on the future because it doesn’t have much of a past. Founded in 2014, the school’s first class of students enrolled in 2016 and won’t graduate until 2020. The medical school is so new that it has yet to build a reputation, but this does bring advantages when it comes to designing the curriculum, says Linda Nelson, senior director of clinical operations. “As a new medical school we can really think outside the box,” she says. “It gives us latitude to try new things.” Read more on the Nature Medicine website…
